A delegation from the V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal is currently visiting Uzbekistan to expand collaboration in education, science and culture.
The visit started at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Tashkent, where university representatives met with Irina Staroselskaya, Head of the Russian House (the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo) in Uzbekistan, and Ilya Matveev, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Uzbekistan.
According to Sergei Iurchenko, Vernadsky CFU First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Information Policy, the meeting was highly productive, with both sides exploring new opportunities for joint academic projects and discussing how the University’s programmes can best support Uzbekistan’s demand for high-quality training.
Key topics included holding educational fairs in Uzbekistan and new participation formats for universities; priority fields such as artificial intelligence, agriculture, engineering and technology, water management and soil management, and state-supported initiatives in those fields. The meeting also touched on state support programmes and opportunities for gifted Uzbek students, competitive strengths of global universities, and the role of the Russian language in Uzbekistan’s education system. Issues related to the Russian Government’s scholarship quota were also addressed, as well as other matters related to cooperation in research and education, one of the priority areas in the strategic partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan.
This meeting took place as part of the Russian Education Days in Uzbekistan, a series of events held by Vernadsky CFU in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara within the Priority-2030 Strategic Academic Leadership Programme.
Following the meeting, the University delegation paid tribute at the Victory Park Memorial Complex honouring the resilience and sacrifice of the Uzbek people during the Second World War.
As part of their visit, members of the University delegation are also participating in the 4th Ushakov Memorial Lectures, the international academic conference held in Tashkent and focused on promoting the Russian language, literature and culture, and exploring innovative teaching methods and educational technologies.
