Crimea in the Global Research and Education Community: the Ninth International Forum of the University’s Foreign Students and Graduates held at Vernadsky CFU

On December 18, 2025 Vernadsky CFU hosted a conference on Crimea in the Global Research and Education Community. The event was held as part of the Ninth International Forum of the University’s Foreign Students and Graduates, and was attended by the University’s senior management, academic staff and students, as well as participants from Uzbekistan, India, Palestine, Congo, and Egypt.

“Currently, there are around 414,000 international students in Russia, of whom 2,600 are Vernadsky CFU students. Nowadays, an increasing number of young people are opting to study in other countries such as the USA, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. Competition is very high. This underscores the critical need to optimise and improve the system of international education. I believe that the participants of today’s conference will offer ideas that will contribute to strengthening Vernadsky CFU’s standing in international education community,” said Prof. Sergei Iurchenko, the First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Information Policy at Vernadsky CFU.

The forum was organised by the Office of International Affairs of V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University.

In November this year, during a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Vernadsky CFU representatives signed a number of cooperation agreements with Uzbekistan educational institutions focusing on education, research, and culture. Currently, several faculty members from Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University are taking a professional development course in Seismic Design and Engineering delivered by Vernadsky CFU’s Academy of Construction and Architecture.
