India’s Republic Day celebrated at Vernadsky CFU

Vernadsky CFU students and staff came together to celebrate India’s 77th Republic Day on 26 January 2026 at a colourful event co-organised by V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University and the Chamber of Folk Arts and Crafts of the Republic of Crimea.

The celebrations included the opening of the exhibition ‘The Silk Road: from India to Crimea’ showcasing Indian traditional clothing and jewellery made from materials that India historically supplied to Europe via the ancient trade route.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to everyone on Republic Day. My country is a mosaic of cultures. We have a wide variety of cuisine and many different dialects. There are approximately 29 languages spoken in various parts of India today. We also have many ancient traditions. Such diversity unites us and makes our culture unique,” said Namrata Namrata, a student at the Vernadsky CFU Medical Institute.

As part of the event, guests were treated to a vibrant cultural programme featuring Indian dance and drama performances, and enjoyed traditional masala chai and refreshments.

The festivities concluded with an award ceremony to celebrate students’ achievements and active involvement in the cultural life of the Vernadsky CFU Medical Institute.
