Vernadsky CFU Celebrates the 108th Anniversary of the Founding of the First University in Crimea

V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University has celebrated the 108th anniversary of the founding of Taurida University, the first higher education institution in Crimea. The event brought together the University leadership, members of staff, students and guests from across the University’s various academic units.

“The establishment of Crimea’s first university marked the beginning of the development of higher education on the peninsula and brought about a number of significant changes in the region’s economy and social sphere. This milestone not only laid the foundations for producing highly qualified professionals to meet the needs of Crimea’s key industries, but also fostered a distinctive intellectual environment that helped academic schools flourish and encouraged new educational initiatives,” said Vladimir Kurianov, Acting Rector of Vernadsky CFU.

As part of the celebrations, members of the University’s student community and staff were presented with certificates and gifts in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions.

The event also featured performances by the University’s artistic groups, including the Klass Dance Ensemble, the Junior Vocal Studio, the Stil Ballroom Dance Studio, the Tvoy Golos Vocal Ensemble, and the Octavia Choir Studio.

Today, Vernadsky CFU continues to grow and develop, consolidating its position as a leading centre for research and education in the region. Building on the traditions established by previous generations, the University is also expanding its specialist training programmes, preparing the new generation of professionals who meet the demands of the modern world.
