On August 15, 2026 a festive ceremony marking India’s Independence Day was held at the S.I. Georgievsky Medical Institute of Vernadsky CFU. The event was co-organised by the International Medical Faculty and the Vernadsky CFU Indian Student Community.
For several consecutive years now, Vernadsky CFU has been proud to be a home away from home for well over 2,000 Indian students pursuing their studies at the University.
India’s Independence Day is a particularly important date for the Indian people. On this day in 1947, India gained independence from the United Kingdom, with a ceremony to raise the national flag held at Delhi’s Red Fort.
The celebrations at Vernadsky CFU traditionally began with a ceremonial flag-raising, followed by the official part of the event, during which members of teaching staff and mentors were presented with letters of appreciation.
The event was attended by representatives of the International Medical Faculty Dean’s Office, Vernadsky CFU Rectorate, and the University’s partners involved in recruiting international students for study at the University.
The official programme was followed by a lively cultural celebration where students performed a selection of vocal pieces and treated the guests to a variety of traditional Indian dishes, adding a warm and festive atmosphere to the occasion.
