About 140 students of the Medical Academy of the Crimean Federal University help doctors in medical establishments of the Republic. This was reported by the Deputy Director on Humanitarian Education and Educational Work of the Academy Denis Shaduro.

Medical students of the Crimean Federal University work in polyclinics of Simferopol, Alushta, Yalta, Bahchisaray, Dzhankoy, Evpatoria, Kerch, Feodosia and other towns of the Republic.

“At the moment 139 of our students have responded to the request of the Ministry of Health of Crimea and have gone to work at medical establishments of almost all regions of the peninsula. They mainly help doctors to work with documentation, computers, and also six of our students are working with the hotlines of the Ministry of Health on coronavirus issues,” said the Deputy Director on Humanitarian Education and Educational Work of the Medical Academy of the Crimean Federal University Denis Shaduro.

The students underline that for them it is an opportunity to help colleagues and get practical skills of work in the health care system.

“I am working at a Simferopol clinical hospital in the endocrinologist’s office. Since last week the planned reception of citizens has been cancelled, so now I am mainly dealing with documentation and assistance to patients in the telephone mode. I have been provided with the necessary means of protection, difficulties have not yet arisen. The hospital administration and doctors welcomed us because they needed our help. For me it is an opportunity both to get experience before practical work, and to help our “senior” colleagues,” said the 6th year student of the Medical Academy of the Crimean Federal University Tatiana Grishko.

According to the administration of the university, the provided assistance to doctors has highly been appreciated by the Head of the Republic Sergey Aksenov.

“We had promptly responded to the request of the Ministry of Health for personnel assistance, so our students had taken their jobs even before the spread of the infection on the peninsula. At one of the meetings of the operational headquarters for counteraction of the spread of coronavirus infection the Head of the Republic of Crimea highly appreciated our assistance to health care at this difficult time”, Denis Shaduro added.

According to the Ministry’s request, hospitals in Crimea need the help of 300 students more.
