International Winter Universiade 2019 to be held in Krasnoyarsk

The 29th Winter Universiade will be held in Krasnoyarsk from 2 to 12 March, 2019. These international student sports competitions have been attracting contestants and spectators from all over the world for more than half a century now.

In 2019, Russia will be hosting the games for the third time having successfully hosted them for the first time in Moscow back in 1973 and again in Kazan 40 years later.

The Universiade is a unique celebration of youth and sports. The language of sport is universal, and therefore it brings people and generations together. More than 10,000 participants and audience members from every part of the world – Europe and Asia, North and South America, Africa and Australia – are expected to flock to Krasnoyarsk for the Student Games.

During the Universiade, athletes will compete in the most popular winter sports, including biathlon, alpine skiing, curling, cross country skiing, snowboarding, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, bandy, short track speed skating and ski orienteering.

Those interested in participating in the Universiade either as a spectator or as a volunteer can find more information about the event on the 29th Winter Universiade’s official website at https://krsk2019.ru/en.
