On Thursday, May 26, Vernadsky CFU Football Club clashed with the African Students Team in a friendly football match held as part of the University’s Africa Day celebrations.
“Annually, we organise a range of activities and events to mark this special day and this football match is one of them. Sport is an ambassador of peace and friendship. It is a place where everyone can fully demonstrate their character and skills to the benefit of personal development, to the benefit of V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University,” commented Prof Sergei Iurchenko, the University’s Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Information Policy.
The entertaining match ended in a 3-3 draw and was a great game of football – a sport that is so popular all over Africa – played in good spirits with both sides giving their all from start to finish.
This traditional sporting event was held with the support of the Vernadsky CFU’s Office of International Affairs, the International Faculty of the Medical Academy named after S.I. Georgievsky, and the University’s Sports Club.
