Vernadsky CFU to take part in research expedition to the Urals

 

Recently, the Russian Geographical Society held a press conference at its headquarters at the Konstantin Battery in Sevastopol to announce the Pripoliarnyi 2022 Research Expedition. At the event, the expedition team members were handed over the flags that will be raised on the highest peak of the Urals, Mount Narodnaya, located in the Nether-Polar Urals and standing at an elevation of 1,895 m.

Wishing all our international students a happy Russian Students’ Day!

 

January 25th is marked in Russia as Tatiana’s Day, in honour of Saint Tatiana of Rome. It is also celebrated across the country as Russian Students’ Day. On this day back in 1755 Empress Elizabeth signed a decree founding the first university in Russia, Moscow State University. Since then, Tatiana has been known as the patron saint of students. Resolution of the Fifth International Forum of the University’s Foreign Students and Graduates ‘Crimea in the Global Research and Education Community’

 

There are more than 2,000 international students currently studying in Crimean universities. They represent 50 countries, including India, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Palestine, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Congo, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Jordan, and many others. Thus, the traditions that have been established on the peninsula back in the middle of the 20th century, when Crimean higher education institutions welcomed their first international students, are being continued to this day. Since then, over 25,000 international students from nearly every continent and almost all UN member states have graduated from Crimean universities. Read more
